Kestrel is the name of one of two SE series basses introduced for the summer of 2014. It is based on the age old Precision Bass design and construction with added classic PRS style and flavor. Solid and double-cut body of this modern vintage four-stringer is solid, double-cut and made of alder wings with maple/walnut neck in the middle. This type of construction adds bucket loads of sustain and power to the already mighty PRS single-coils. Kestrel features flat-top design and a big one-piece pickguard on the top side. PRS offers three color options for Kestrel: Black, Metallic Red and Tri-Color Sunburst. All three are classic Precision Bass options and all of them are finished in gloss. Also, all three rock the elegant modern vintage hardware plated in chrome. Hardtail bridge is available in both the top load and string-through-body variants to suit both types of players. PRS Designed SE 4B S Bass and Treble pickups are installed in neck and bridge positions, respectively. Simple controls unit is fit with two volume knobs (these two also act as a pickup switch of sorts) and a master tone knob. Be it the low register bass line, punchy rock line, or funky slap-style licks, Kestrel has got you covered. Five-piece maple-walnut neck has the standard SE Bass contour in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Bird inlays, 34" scale length and Hipshot tuners complete the specs list.
