SR Series basses from Ibanez come as market leaders in their class. These remarkable instruments offer top shelf materials combined with some of the strongest tones available from electric basses today. Their stylish and elegant appearance is sure to turn heads wherever they appear and the tone is enough to cause a minor earthquake. Brand new model in this series is SR 1206 E and it comes with a solid, double cutaway body made of mahogany back and ovangkol top. Fantastic combination for growling lows and top notch dynamics. There are no bindings or pickguards featured on this beast. The bridge is a six-saddle monorail. With this type of the bridge every saddle is a bridge on it`s own and can be adjusted independently. This time Ibanez decided to go with gold plating to emphasize the beauty of the hardware. In the pickup area Nordstrom supplies a pair of gigantic single coils for bridge and neck positions. These juggernaut pickups drive SR 1206 E to uncharted regions of extreme tone map. They are controlled through master volume knob and a series of smaller knobs and mini-switches. Bass, mid and treble boost/cut knobs are accompanied by mid frequency and equalizer bypass mini-switches. The neck on this monster is made of five pieces of wenge and bubinga and equipped with SR contour. It is bolted to the body and topped with a rosewood fingerboard. 24 medium sized frets are covered with abalone oval inlays and 2.12" wide string nut. Scale measures 34" in length and fingerboard radius is 15.75 inches. This one is truly both a beauty and a beast.
