GSR series is a sub-division of the GIO series, which in Ibanez dictionary stands for the affordable, working man`s guitar and bass. This is the entry level of instruments for Ibanez and the main focus is on the delivery of the decent tone along with quality construction. Of course, elegance and luxurious appointments are cut out of the picture to leave more room for functionality. The M badge next to the GSR means that this line of basses features shortened scales. Particularly, GSRM is fit with almost guitar-like 28-3/5" scale. Body of this model is made with a modern double cutaway contour and it`s material of choice is basswood, same as on many entry level models from Ibanez. Binding and top wood covers are omitted and the neck joint is bolt-on. Bridge section features Ibanez B bridge in five-string variant. It`s named B15 and plated in chrome. In front of this top-load bridge Ibanez installs a pair of their own J-styled pickups named J5 for their extended range. Neck on this model is made of maple, it sports a familiar bass variant of GSR contour along with the bolt joint. On top of the neck a rosewood fingerboard is installed. It comes with 22 medium frets, white dot position markers, 1.77" wide string nut and traditional 12" radius. Other features include glossy finish over the black paint and modern tuners in two plus three arrangement.
