Hofner CT Verythin Bass

CT Electric Bass Guitars by Hofner

CT Verythin Bass by Hofner
Sunburst

CT Verythin Bass is a double-cut bass with a hollow body, set in neck construction and a short 30" scale. One of the most interesting and most important features of this gorgeous vintage-styled four-stringer is it`s very thin body contour. CT Verythin Bass is around 50% slimmer than regular hollow-bodied basses available on the market. Body of this exclusive model is made of maple and spruce, Hofner`s favorite body woods. CT Verythin Bass is available in Sunburst color with gloss finish and chrome-plated hardware. On the top of the carved and beautifully decorated body, Hofner installs a two-piece bridge section with wooden base and a pair of minibucker pickups. Set in neck is made of maple and it features a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top.

Nice bass in concept. The thin body is very cool and most of the construction is good with regard to fit and finish. Mine had one control pot with a bent shaft and/or installed incorrectly - minor stuff. However, the neck developed a reverse bow and I attempted to correct this by adjusting the truss rod. I gave it several 1/8" turns to tighten it, but that did not correct the problem. At that point, the tension on the truss rod was becoming more taut and I elected not to go further. As a result, I returned the bass. I should say that the neck is quite thin width wise so that may take some getting used to (if you ever played an older Framus, you'll have a sense of this). I had some issues with the sound of this bass initially, but was able to dial it in and got a nice bass cut though tone. My bass was made in China. My experience with Chinese and Indonesian manufactured instruments is that they are a roll of the dice. You might get a beauty or one that just does not work. Fortunately, the seller of mine provided a refund so no harm / no foul.
