50th Anniversary Thunderbird Bass by Gibson
Bullion Gold

Thunderbird Bass has been around for five full decades. It has been introduced back in 1963 as a four-stringed companion of the popular Firebird six-string guitar and it has been a constant member of the Gibson family ever since. Throughout the years and decades, Thunderbird has been played on so many stages, studios and albums, that it would be impossible to precisely estimate it`s presence, influence and impact on music industry. Five decades really are a long period, but Thunderbird now looks younger, tighter and fresher than ever. The latest one in Thunderbird series is the 50th Anniversary Thunderbird Bass, a luxurious four-string monster with all-mahogany construction and premium hardware. Gibson USA has equipped this Thunderbird with a solid, flat body, through-body neck, 34" scale and a standard 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Mahogany is used for both the body wings, and neck, which makes up the central part of the body. It is flat on top and does not feature a top wood cover. Also, there is no binding around the top. Bullion Gold is the only color scheme Gibson has assigned for this model and it features glossy finish. Hardware on this outstanding four-stringer is also plated in gold. Standard 3-point adjustable hardtail bridge sports four saddles and is plated in gold. In it`s front, there are two Thunderbird pickups. The power, precision and sustain these pickups deliver, justifies the Thunderbird name. Two volume knobs and one tone knob comprise the controls unit. Volume knobs also act like a pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features the comfortable rounded profile in the back. Rosewood fingerboard on it`s top is equipped with 20 frets with dot inlays. Four Grover tuners are installed on the classic Thunderbird headstock. The MSRP for the 50th Anniversary Thunderbird Bass is set at $3,332.
