Deluxe Active Jazz Bass Okoume by Fender
Natural

Okoume or okume, as it is otherwise known, is a somewhat obscure tonewood of the African origin. Close in tonal characteristics to maple, it gives a bright tone with a sharp punch and good, quick response. With a straight or slightly curved grain, it is also quite a looker when finished in clear lacquer. Fender spells it okoume and gives it a prominent role in 2015 electric bass lineup, as it is the main body wood of the Deluxe series novelties. Deluxe Active Jazz Bass Okoume is the name of the new four-stringed Jazz Bass made for the Deluxe range. It comes with a stripped down offset body made entirely of okoume. It is offered exclusively in the mesmerizing Natural Gloss color. Even the pickguard has been ditched to show off the beauty of the okoume body. On the top, Deluxe Active Jazz Bass Okoume features the standard Hi Mass bridge with four chrome-plated zinc saddles and a pair of Dual-Coil Ceramic Noiselessâ„¢ Jazz Bass pickups with nickel-plated pole pieces. Master volume, pan control and three-band active EQ (treble boost/cut, mid boost/cut and bass boost/cut) controls unit, along with okoume/maple base and marvelous pickups, guarantees a staggering level of versatility and supreme tonal quality. Maple neck is fit with the modern C profile in the back and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top (there is no maple alternative). Standard-sized headstock is fit with a set of four regular open-geared tuning machines.
