Exotic series is there for the players who want fancy looks along with good old Mitchell build quality and playability. Currently, there are two active models, MX400 and MX420. They`re both in sub-$500 region (400 costs around $399, 420 costs around $449). MX400 is the more affordable of the two Exotic axes, and can be considered the opening model. It brings a single-cut auditorium body, 14th fret dovetail neck joint, Fishman electronics, and modern styling. Ovangkol, Quilt Ash Burl, and Bubinga options are available, each in clear gloss finish. Main construction features include laminated backs & sides, solid tops, mahogany necks as well as Indian rosewood fingerboards (20 frets, dot inlays, 1.67" string nuts). Mitchell`s own CE304T preamp, fixed rosewood bridge, and die-cast tuners complete MX400.
