Gretsch Guitars are known for their vintage creations in both the electric and acoustic segments of the catalog. In past years, Gretsch success and fame were more based on the electric segment`s achievements and in recent times, Gretsch is making a big effort to promote the acoustics and American folk instruments. In order to boost the popularity of folk instruments with Gretsch badge, Roots series was introduced. This collection features numerous resonators, ukuleles and mandolins made to compete against the rest of the market. High quality of build and tone and superb design and construction features promise lot of fun and long-lasting companionship. G9210Boxcar is a fully acoustic resonator guitar from the Roots Collection and it is based on the squareneck model from 1930s. This power house of tone features a non-cutaway body made of laminated mahogany and the aluminum resonator cone. Back, sides and the top are all made of laminated mahogany, while the cone is made of 99% pure aluminum. It`s made in eastern Europe. Bridge on that cone, however, is made of maple and it features an ebony tip. It is fixed and does not feature piezo pickups underneath the bone saddle. In fact, this Resonator is dully acoustic and relies solely on the power of it`s wood, aluminum and construction. Top is beautifully decorated with two "f" holes and discrete binding around the edges. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features the square neck contour in the back. On it`s top, there`s a standard 19-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It contains 19 medium jumbo-sized frets with dot inlays and 2" wide string nut. Vintage-styled headstock is equipped with a set of six Grover die-cast tuning machines. The MSRP for this beautiful resonator is set at $599.
