This trait renders the use of macassar ebony only for some parts of the body, for it is very expensive to make an entire full-sized body entirely of macassar ebony. Macassar Ebony 12 Fret Grand Auditorium is a model from 2011 Spring Limiteds edition. Single cutaway grand auditorium body is made of macassar back and sides and cedar top. Koa is used for binding. Bridge is made of ebony and electronics section features an installation of Taylor Expression System. Neck is made of mahogany and it is topped with a fingerboard made of ebony. 20 frets with no inlays and 1.75" wide bone nut complete the fingerboard.
