Taylor introduces a new body contour into the catalog for 2013 and it`s named Grand Orchestra. For the initial period, it will only be available in limited numbers. three models are being released: 918e, 618e and 518e. Depending on their success, or failure Taylor will decide the future of this fantastic new shape. Taylor advertises this brand new body contour as the one with best and most complete tone. It has a strong low end of dreadnought with added complexity and strength throughout the register. This contour that started out as an idea to redesign jumbo found it`s way into main production lines thanks to the very successful combination of features of large body shapes in Taylor catalog. It has wide shoulders, like the dread and jumbo, a bit thinner waist than dread and wider bottom, similar to jumbo. It is also deeper than the dreadnought. For the 600 series it is made of big leaf maple back and sides with solid sitka spruce sound board on top. White binding, red plastic pickguard and abalone rosette decorate the top. A multitude of color options are available. All are finished in gloss. Also, Taylor offers several top wood alternatives. Bracing beneath the default spruce top is hybrid one. Bridge is made of ebony and it sports the standard Taylor contour. Ebony string pins and TUSQ saddle are also featured on the bridge. Taylor`s Expression System is found in the electronics department. Tropical mahogany neck is attached with a dovetail joint and topped with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. 1.75" TUSQ nut and twisted oval inlays are featured on the fingerboard. This 600 series grand orchestra features gold-plated tuners, glossy finish all over the body and standard 25-1/2" scale. The MSRP is set at $3,798.
