CO-WS1000N2 is a model from the concert series in Rainsong catalog. It comes with the thinnest sound board Rainsong makes. For it`s production unidirectional carbon is used. It mimics the natural rain of the spruce, thus giving a warm and subtle tone. This full-bodied acoustic-electric comes with a single cut body made entirely of carbon fibers. Inside the body, electronics section is equipped with Fishman Prefix Plus T system, which consists of an under-saddle piezo pickup and side-mounted preamp. On the surface, CO-WS1000N2 features a barren top with glossy finish. This type of the body gives a strong tone with warmth and crisp provided by the sound board. Neck is made of graphite and it comes with a set of standard features, such as U contour, bolt-on joint and gloss finish.

Like, I suspect, many purchasers, I expected the new guitar to be perfect - no flaws or undulations in the sound board, etc. This was a nonsense expectation, as it's much easier to work with wood than with carbon fibre. Once I accepted that total visual perfection was unrealistic, I began to enjoy the qualities of the guitar. If both my Rainsong CH-WS1000NS and my Taylor 414CE have been restrung, I think that, for me, the Taylor has the edge ... just. However, when I play my Rainsong in front of an audience, they are almost mesmerised by its appearance. Overall, it's a great, playable, excellent sounding guitar, with the additional advantages of stability and durability that carbon fibre brings. The CH-WS1000NS has a unidirectional carbon fibre top that, I think, adds to the bright spruce-like sound. I'm not sure that I would enjoy a typical carbon fibre instrument, which probably sounds much more like a cheap conventional guitar with a composite sound board.
