The letters of Ibanez AEW series stand for Acoustic Exotic Wood, as all models feature at least one non-standard tonewood (mahogany, rosewood, spruce, cedar, ebony, being the standards) in their construction. Sometimes, two or even three types of rare, exotic, or non-standard tonewoods may be used for a particular guitar.
AEW40ZW is a single-cut guitar with zebra wood body (back, sides and top) and mahogany neck. To accentuate the beauty of the zebra grain, Ibanez offers AEW40ZW only in natural color and with minimal decorations. Mahogany neck is attached at the 14th fret and features a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Standard electronics unit includes a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez AEQ-ST2 preamp with onboard tuner. The specs list is concluded with a modern rosewood bridge and die-cast tuners.
