The player is the lowest of the three tiers available with the new California series lineup. Player models cost $399.99, while the Special models cost $699.99, and Classics cost $799. All three tiers have three models, each (one Newporter, one Malibu, one Redondo). Newporter Player is, therefore, the most affordable Newporter available through the current lineup. Its main features include a solid soundboard, super-slim neck, Fishman/Fender electronics, and youthful styling. Available color options include Champagne, Candy Apple Red, Jetty Black, and Rusty Copper. All four feature chrome hardware, matching headstocks, and creme binding. Other notable features include laminated mahogany back/sides, solid Sitka spruce top w/vintage-style pickguard, solid mahogany neck w/14th fret dovetail joint, 20-fret walnut fingerboard, a walnut bridge, and Fender tuning machines.
