At this year`s NAMM, Epiphone has introduced a small, but quality oriented line of Spring 2015 updates. One of the models featured was the Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody model with a round neck (square neck variant does not exist, nor is it likely to appear in the future). This is a genuine Dobro brand resonator made by Epiphone, which might be a bit confusing. But, beyond the Epi/Dobro brand name dilemma, this is a straight forward metal body resonator with the classic design and construction. Entire body is made of nickel-plated brass and features the standard resonator measurements. On the top, there is a mandatory resonator cone with the top-load bridge on it. Vintage-styled "f" holes are also featured on the top. Neck is made of mahogany and is fit with a fast and comfortable slim taper profile in the back. On the top, the standard 19-fret rosewood fingerboard is installed. It features dot inlays in a traditional arrangement (both the 15th and 19th frets have double dot inlays). Grover`s Mini Rotomatic tuners with 18:1 ratio round off the specs list. Epiphone luthiers and designers spared no effort to build a high quality resonator guitar. Materials used, construction quality and the ergonomics are on a quite enviable level on this model, despite its rather low price tag.
