I've owned two of these; one with the Shadow pickup & pre-amp, the other with the new e-Sonic system. This is a great guitar for playing by yourself, practicing or gigging. Plugged in it sounds much fuller than unplugged (a bit thin sounding unplugged). It has a shallow, easy to play neck and the cut-away allows clear access up the neck. The thin body makes it very comfortable to play while seated. I prefer the new e-Sonic pickup and pre-amp; it has better acoustic sound, and less thump from picking the string(s). I find the factory set-up a bit high, so usually shave a bit off the bridge saddle, and the end pin jack will loosen, so replace with a better one that won't unscrew. A good guitar for the $$$.
Epiphone really built a solid performer, especially for a workhorse studio guitar. It is also performs very well unplugged or plugged in for those small to medium gigs. Should be a staple for any song writing guitar player. Unbelievable value for a guitar of this quality. This is my third one (gave first two over time as gifts to my son and a good guitar playing friend).
