NAMM 2017: Ibanez Electric Basses

Thirty brand new models, divided across three series, will refresh Ibanez`s Bass division in early 2017.

 This year`s lineup of electric basses is composed completely of BTB and SR models, including their double and single-cut types. A hybrid fretted/fretless 7-string model will join the Ibanez Bass Workshop line, as will four semi-hollow SR models. Another quartet of semi-hollow anniversary SRs will also be introduced into SR Premium and Standard lineups, respectively. Ibanez also introduces the trendy Fade paint scheme into the lower portions of SR range. Eight SR models (seven double-cut, one single-cut) and two single-cut BTB models make up the new Ibanez Bass Workshop line. Hybrid SRAS7, semi-hollow SRH500, SRH505, SRH500F, SRH505F, solid SRSC800, SRFF800, SRF706, BTB845SC and BTB846SC are new Workshop models. Soundgear`s lineup receives fourteen double-cut models, four semi-hollow, ten solid. Hollow ones are: SR30th4PE, SR30th5PE, SR30th4 and SR30th5. Solids include SR1400E, SR1405E, SR805, SR650, SR655, SR500, SR505, SR400EQM, SR405EQM and SR300E. Six double-cut BTB models are BTB1805E, BTB1806E, BTB845, BTB846, BTB745 and BTB746.

Ibanez SRAS7 is, along with the anniversary models, the undeniable star of Ibanez`s bass lineup for this year. With top four strings fretted and bottom three fretless, this gargantuan seven-stringer sets new standards and raises the bar for other manufacturers. Hybrid electronics, top-shelf tonewoods and specially designed hardware complete this exclusive axe. Ibanez SRAS7

Ibanez SRH500 is one of four non-signature SR models with semi-hollow construction. It is a fretted, four-stringed instrument with spruce/mahogany body, AeroSilk piezo pickups instead of conventional single-coils and soapbars, bolt-on neck, 24-fret fingerboard and black hardware. Ibanez SRH505 comes in with all of the technology, styling and construction shown on the previous SRH, adding the low B string for five-string lovers. Newly designed semi-hollow SR body (with a single “f” hole), bolt-on neck (with contoured heel), 24-fret fingerboard and piezo-loaded AeroSilk bridge are all there. Ibanez SRH500F is one of two fretless, semi-hollow SR models introduced this January. It belongs to Ibanez Bass Workshop range, together with the rest of the SRH-designated models. Ibanez SRH505F wraps up the four-piece line of semi-hollow SR models introduced this year through Ibanez Bass Workshop range. It is a semi-hollow, fretless bass, with active piezo pickups instead of conventional pickups, specially designed bridge and bolt-on neck with contoured heel. Ibanez SRSC800 is a single-cut SR model, the only one introduced into the Ibanez Workshop line at 2017 NAMM. Neck-through construction, powerful and versatile soapbar pickups, top-shelf tonewoods and premium hardware grant this four-stringer unlimited possibilities. Ibanez SRFF800 is a four-stringed SR bass guitar, one of several fan-fret models Ibanez introduced at NAMM. Instead of SR`s Standard series, it is a part of this year`s Ibanez Bass Workshop lineup. Premium Ibanez hardware, slanted soapbar pickups compound 33-1/2”-34-1/2” scale and 24-fret fingerboard are among the most notable features on this fan-fretted four-stringer. Ibanez SRF706, though a 700 model, is a member of Ibanez Bass Workshop instead of the regular SR range. It has six strings, neck-through-body construction, super versatile electronics and premium class hardware. Brown Burst Flat, with satin finish and Cosmo Black hardware, is currently the only available color option. Natural Low Gloss is the only available color option for this exclusive anniversary axe. Ibanez SR30th5 is a part of the four-model series made in honor of SoundGear`s 30th anniversary. Semi-hollow and double-cut body, fast bolt-on neck, 24-fret fingerboard and versatile, passive pickups make up the core features of this mighty five-stringer. Ibanez SR1400E is one of two Premium series models introduced this January. It Is an upscale four-stringer, outfitted with high quality electronics and hardware. Ibanez SR1405E is a Premium series model, unveiled along with SR1400E at this year`s NAMM. It features the same specs list as its four-stringed counterpart, same styling and same hardware. The only major difference is in the color palette, as these two feature completely different color options (Glacial White and Transparent Gray Black for this model). Ibanez SR805 unveiled this January is a remaining of the popular model of the same name. Just like its predecessor, this 805 is the top five-stringer of the standard section of the SR range. It sports the solid, double-cut mahogany/quilt maple body, SR-shaped neck with 24-fret fingerboard on top and Bartolini electronics. Ibanez SR650 is an interesting four-stringer, with an unusual pickups configuration for the SR range. It sports a J/P set made by Nordstrand, and supported by Ibanez`s standard SR controls unit. Ibanez SR500 is one of many SR models introduced this January. It comes with four strings, double-cut SR body, bolt-on neck and 24-fret fingerboard.
