NAMM 2015: ESP New Electric Guitar Signatures

ESP introduces new and refreshes some of the existing signature lines.

NAMM 2015: ESP New Electric Guitar Signatures

With the LTD-200 tier of affordable signatures revamped and big names like Gary Holt and Javier Reyes added to the signature artist roster, ESP looks into a bright 2015.

At 2015 NAMM, ESP has introduced a lot of new signature models in the electric guitar segment. The accent was on the reboot of the affordable and popular LTD-200 level of signature guitars. Other than that, introductions of the thrash metal legend Gary Holt and young and upcoming Javier Reyes of Animals as Leaders infused fresh blood into the already stunning roster of the ESP signature family. ESP Gary Holt, GH-600 and GH-200 comprise the initial lineup of the Gary Holt series. JR608 and JR-208 form the LTD duo of Javier Reyes signatures. Gus-200 and Gus-200EC are the new affordable Gus G. signatures, while the WA-200 in Warbird and White Camo updates Will Adler line. Andy James` series receives the magnificent AJ-7 seven-stringer. KH-202 and MP-200 are refreshed and introduced into the Kirk Hammett and Michael Paget series, respectively. Last, but not the least, SC-207 and SC-208 reinforce the Stephen Carpenter series.

Kicking off in style, we introduce you the infernal ESP Gary Holt signature. Elegant Eclipse body, set through neck construction, Floyd Rose Original bridge, ebony fingerboard and Gary`s trademark EMG 81/89R pickups combo with red covers make up this six-string beast. With GH-600, ESP aims at players who want a serious instrument, but are not willing to purchase the luxurious ESP model. GH-600 pretty much reprises the ESP Gary Holt specs, but with a bit more conventional styling and color palette. ESP LTD GH-600

As part of the LTD-200 reboot, GH-200 is introduced along with the 600 and ESP models into the Gary Holt series. This affordable Eclipse-based rocker features stock LTD materials and hardware, bearing only stylistic resemblance to the upscale GH models. Javier Reyes series starts off with a pair of LTD signatures. JR-608 is a beautiful eight-stringer with a quilt maple top over a swamp ash body, set of DiMarzio humbuckers, 24-fret ebony fingerboard over a maple/padauk/walnut neck and golden hardware. A more affordable and modest version of the beautiful JR-608 is the JR-208. This eight-stringer features the standard set of appointments and standard LTD-200 materials. This includes ESP pickups instead of the DiMarzios, basswood body instead of mahogany and LTD hardware. Next in line is the updated Gus G. series. One of two models introduced is the Gus-200, a star-shaped six-stringer with a solid and flat basswood body, bolted maple neck, ESP`s own LH-300 humbuckers with white coils and rosewood fingerboard. Black-clad Gus-200EC is the second half of the LTD section of the popular Gus G. signature series. Like its spiky sibling, it too features a basswood body with a bolted maple neck, ESP`s own passive electronics and a rosewood fingerboard. Here comes the only model with two color options. It is an LTD-200 level model – the fantastic WA-200. It comes in the sinister Warbird Graphic and White Camo versions, featuring the standard LTD-200 set of specs on both. Though nominally an LTD, AJ-7 can technically be considered an ESP signature guitar. In any case, it features the same specs list and styling as the previous AJ-6, save for the seventh string, bit broader neck and extended range pickups. Kirk Hammett`s series is being updated with KH-202, a stellar example how a budget signature guitar can look and play good. Simple superstrat design and construction, passive ESP pickups and surprisingly reliable licensed Floyd Rose bridge make up this great six-string. Michael Paget`s MP-200 comes back with the same, exact specs list as the previous 200 model from this series. The only visible difference is that the ESP logo on the pickups has been moved from the lower left to the upper left corner. Stephen Carpenter`s is one of the signature series with more than one update. Both updates are positioned in the LTD-200 range. SC-207 is a simple, hard rocking seven-string with a carved basswood body, bolted maple neck, 24-fret fingerboard and ESP pickups. Stephen`s SC-208 eight-string closes this NAMM 2015 report with a solid and carved basswood body, bolted maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on its top, ESP`s LH-308 passive humbucking pickups and an eight-saddled hardtail bridge.
