Ibanez has introduced two new models, one limited edition SR Premium bass and one budget-friendly AEW acoustic-electric guitar.
Huge selection and enormous variety of materials, styles and looks are some of the hallmarks of the Ibanez brand. There`s a guitar and bass for virtually every player, every genre and every occasion somewhere in the catalog. But it doesn`t stop there, as new models are being introduced on regular basis, into both the electric and acoustic segments. The latest novelties include a five-string bass and an acoustic-electric guitar. The limited edition SR55SMLTD belongs to the distinguished SR Premium collection, while the AEW31BC hails from AEW (acoustic exotic wood) series. Ibanez site does not specify whether the SR55SMLTD will be available in limited quantities or for a limited period, though the specs offered are bound to move all four and five-string enthusiasts. On the other side, in the acoustic corner we have a reasonably priced all-round steel-stringer with a gorgeous bocote top and Ibanez electronics.
Ibanez SR55SMLTD is a mighty five-stringer, made with a generous serving of exotic tonewoods. Mahogany-based body is topped with a spalted maple/bubinga cap and is matched with a spalted maple headstock veneer. Nordstrand`s Big Single pickups, abalone oval-marked birdseye maple fingerboard and black hardware add to the overall beauty of this beast. Ibanez AEW31BC comes in clad in chocolate tones of bocote top and mahogany back, sides and neck. Black and chrome hardware, simple rosette and small dot inlays offer a subtle, yet effective contrast. Some of the prominent features are: Ibanez under-saddle pickup/AEQ-SP2 preamp amplification unit, 20-fret fingerboard and “soft” Florentine cutaway.
