A Flying V, an Explorer guitar and Explorer bass, equipped with korina bodies and necks are ready to hit the stage. The only downside is that they`ll all be available in limited quantities.
Back in the 50`s, Gibson`s traditional models were challenged by the growing popularity of modern, solid-bodied guitars made by Fender. To rise up to the challenge, Ted McCarty and his team came up with the a trio of futuristic models, named Moderne, Explorer and Flying V. All three were introduced in 1958 and featured flat-top bodies made of korina. The series proved to be a disaster as none of three models managed to garner any success. Nine years later Flying V was reissued, while Explorer had to wait another nine years for its 1976 rebirth. There have been several attempts at reviving the Moderne, the first one in 1982, but it never really took off. Today, Epiphone pays tribute to the original V and Explorer with Ltd Ed Korina Flying V, Ltd Ed Korina Explorer and Ltd Ed Korina Explorer Bass.
Ltd Ed Korina Flying V is the only V-shaped model out of three. It comes with an all-korina body and neck, connected through a standard set-in joint. Gold-plated hardware, vintage pickguard & bridge, as well as PAF-reminiscent humbuckers are among the most prominent features. Like the other two, this one`s available only in Antique Natural.
