Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass

Fender salutes the late punk rock legend with a signature model.

Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass

The release of Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass is more than a good reason for punk rockers of the world to pop a can of beer and give a lesson in Ramones hits to their neighbours.

Back in the turbulent `70s, Britain was a stage of yet another in what seems to be an endless succession of musical revolutions. Waves of rhythm and blues revival of the late `50s, Beetlemania of the early `60s and the emergence of psychedelic rock and hard rock have just subsided when out of nowhere, new, stripped down, daring and bold sound started shattering eardrums and long-held conventions and beliefs of Britain`s youth. Name of the new public enemy No. 1 was punk rock. It emerged as a piercing, driven and raw mix of the somewhat forgotten garage rock, 1950s rock and roll and modern heavy rock. From the very beginning it was clear that this vermin was there to stay, spreading like a forest fire in the middle of the August. Punk bands just started appearing everywhere, first contaminating the eastern coast of the USA and then going pandemic. In early 1974, four young gentlemen known to their families and authorities as John Cummings, Thomas (Tamas) Erdelyi, Douglas Colvin and Jeffrey Hyman created a family of their own, a family of the Ramones. Very soon, Ramones left home in a rocket to Russia and went down the road to ruin. Rock music changed forever with the craziest family that`s ever visited this little green and blue rock of ours. Forty years after the family`s inception, Fender pays a long, long due tribute to the father of all punk rock bassists, legendary Dee Dee Ramone with a Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass. Ubiquitous, no frills style, super heavy tone and merciless execution of simple, iconic riffs have granted Dee Dee a cult status and spawned millions of punks around the world.

Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass is, arguably, the most important update of the 2015 Precision Bass lineup. Simple, deadly and almost perfectly identical to the original, Dee Dee Precision Bass is bound to rock many a socks off. It comes with a solid, double-cut Precision body and bolted maple neck. White-clad body is contrasted with a vintage black pickguard and paired with a C-shaped maple neck. Standard P pickup in the middle position, regular 20-fret maple fingerboard and Fender`s open-gear machine heads account for the core specs. Special treats for the players include Dee Dee Ramone signature decal on the back of the headstock and a “One, Two, Three Four” inscription on the neck plate. In spirit of punk rock, it is as affordable, as possible with price tags in stores being well under $1,000 mark.
