Collector`s Custom Series Launched by Fender

A brand new series containing five acoustic-electric guitars with custom airbrush painted graphics is being unveiled by Fender Guitars.

Fender`s acoustics are sometimes overshadowed by the electric department, despite being among the finest in the business. Fender`s acoustic range is divided into series of completely acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars and from there, further divisions follow. Year 2013 has come and Fender is in the phase of general reconstruction and updating of the catalog. This time high-end segment of the acoustic-electric range is being reinforced with the Collector`s Custom series. This line is made up of five acoustic-electric guitars, all being treated with a custom paint job by one of three young airbrush artists that Fender chose. Models included in the series are Sara Ray Pirate Bay Newporter, Joe Wood Dia De Los Muertos Dreadnought, Sara Ray Pulp Novel Auditorium, Melanie Steinway Tribal Ocean Newporter and Melanie Steinway Tribal Moth Dreadnought.

Fender Sara Ray Pirate Bay Newporter opens this unique series with a solid-wood body and maple neck. Body is made of mahogany in it`s entirety and features a flat top. On the top Sara Ray painted the Pirate Bay theme, which is finished in high gloss. This is one of two models by Sara and is also one of two Newporter models in the series. The other one is painted by Melanie Steinway. Rosewood bridge features bone saddle and standard contour. Fishman electronics take care of amplification tasks. Fender Sara Ray Pirate Bay Newporter

Fender Joe Wood Dia De Los Muertos Dreadnought is the second model in the series and it is the only model painted by Joe. The other dreadnought from this series is painted by Melanie Steinway. Joe`s dread comes with an interesting DDLM graphic with high gloss finish. Body beneath the paint is made of mahogany back and sides with spruce sound board. Body is made of solid wood and has no cutaway. Rosewood bridge features bone saddle and white string pins. Standard Fishman electronics are featured. Melanie Steinway Tribal Ocean Newporter is the second newporter model in the series and it is the first of two Melanie`s models reviewed in this article. Graphics on her models are more discreet than on Sara`s and Joe`s and represent motifs from nature combined with tribal graphics. This newporter comes with a non-cutaway body made of mahogany back and sides with spruce sound board. This body is paired with a C-contoured maple neck. 20-fret rosewood fingerboard is installed on it`s top. Fishman electronics and rosewood bridge are also featured on this model. Fender Sara Steinway Tribal Ocean Newporter

Fender Sara Ray Pulp Novel Auditorium is the second model painted by Sara and the only auditorium guitar in the series. This one features single-cut body made of solid mahogany back and sides with solid spruce sound board on top. Top panel is painted with the eye-catching Pulp Novel graphic, which is finished in high gloss. Rosewood bridge with bone saddle is matched with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with bone nut. Fender Melanie Steinway Tribal Moth Dreadnought is the fifth and final model introduced into the Collector`s Custom series for 2013 NAMM. It comes with a standard non-cutaway dreadnought body made of solid mahogany. Top side is decorated with a huge moth graphic behind the bridge, which extends into a tribal in front of the bridge. Fishman supplies the electronics for this model, as well. V-shaped mahogany neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard.
