Damien Series is one of several lines of affordable guitars made by Schecter Guitar Research. This one is located just below the Blackjack and Hellraiser lines, offering affordable, yet high quality axes. These budget-friendly axes come with solid bodies, bolted necks and 24-fret fingerboards. Damien Riot is a slid, double-cut guitar with a carved-top body made of basswood. Like all regular Damien models, this one features a basswood body, while the Elite line has mahogany-made bodies. Damien Riot comes only in Black Satin color option with black hardware. Standard tune-o-matic bridge is alone and features string-through construction. Pickups are active and come in H/H configuration. Bolt-on maple neck on this model is topped with a 24-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.

Great body shape, balances well either sitting or standing. The EMG humbuckers are full-on heavy metal pickups, with a good reputation, and they work as expected. The control cavity appears well-shielded, and the wiring is nice and tidy. The Grover tuners are smooth, and hold tune very well. Factory set-up is top-notch, action is low without buzzing, just needed a tiny bit of tweaking to the intonation. The satin black finish on the body looks great, and seems to be quite durable. The neck is straight as an arrow, with a nice thin finish on the back that lets you slide up and down effortlessly. The fingerboard is a nice thick piece of rosewood, and the frets are low and wide for easy bending. Speaking of the frets, they are well finished, with no rough edges, and no high/low spots that I can find. Haven't tried adjusting the truss rod yet, as there hasn't been any need to. The only weak point I can find is the truss rod cover, which is held on with one screw, and flops around, even with the screw fully tightened. I may add another screw to hold it in place more securely. All in all, an excellent guitar, especially at this price point.
