Within the Godin family of brands, Richmond is in charge of production of vintage styled electric guitars. Based in Richmond, Quebec, this manufacturer makes some of the best vintage models inspired by legendary guitars from '50s, '60s and '70s. There are three basic series, Belmont, Empire and Dorchester. Empire is the one that received an update at NAMM Show this year, it was an Empire Mahogany P-90 model, It starts off with a solid mahogany body with a single cutaway. Top is carved and features no binding. Black pickguard complements the dark tones of natural gloss finish upon mahogany. The bridge is a wraparound with chrome plating. In the pickup department Godin supplies Kingpin P-90 pickups for both the bridge and neck positions. These pickups, even though being single coils, produce no noise. Controls consist of split volume and tone knobs with a three-way toggle pickup switch. The neck is made of mahogany and is bolted to the body. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features 22 frets with dot position inlays.
