Korina was the most popular body wood back in the 1950s and partially throughout 1960s. It reigned supreme along with swamp ash. But, over the time, these two got replaced by mahogany and alder, respectively. Affordability, production costs and similar level of tone quality ruled in favor of mahogany and alder. Korina still appears in the catalogs of American manufacturers as an occasional guest. KV2 Korina is one of the models blessed with korina body. It features flame maple top and set in neck joint. This vintage six-stringer is available only in natural color with gloss finish. Floyd Rose tremolo bridge is fronted by a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers. Set in neck is also made of korina and it is topped with a standard 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Would like to improve the previous review. First of all there were 2 KV models made of Korina wood - KV1 - Dave Mustaine signature model (only some of them were made of Korina though, not all) and the KV2 Korina itself, which was a different model. The difference was primarily in the bridge - KV1 had a fixed Kahler, but KV2 Korina featured an Original Floyd Rose. There were no flamed maple tops for KV2 Korina, just solid Korina in natural finish. Neck through the body construction, not set neck. KV2 Korina had medium frets, not the biggest jumbo frets normally used on USA Jackson guitars. Ebony fingerboard and shark tooth inlays as usually. Generally nice guitar, especially for playing in standing position. Like most of the pointy guitars tends to hit the surrounding furniture/equipment with its pointy parts. Quite hard to find an undamaged guitar. First KV Custom Korina body guitar with Original Floyd Rose bridge appears as custom shop guitar in 1994-95 catalog, the difference with later KV2 Korina model is the toggle pickup selector switch. The later USA Select Series KV2 Korina has a blade switch. First USA Select Series KV2 Korina found in 1999 catalog. Looks like produced till 2001. Then the company changed the owner and this particular Korina model was discontinued.
