JS22L is one of four models Jackson introduces into the JS range this summer. It is a true intermediate level guitar intended to be used mainly as a practice and rehearsal instrument. Gig-wise, it`s pretty ok for a small club, or pub, but it might under-perform at bigger venues. Solid and double-cut body of this feisty little rocker is made of basswood (basswood is a compromise tonewood used by manufacturers to make fairly light and thick bodies with a decent tone and low manufacturing costs). JS22L Dinky DKA gets the standard heavy metal treatment, which includes glossy black paint job and black-clad hardware. No decorations and no filler, just the bare essence of heavy rock. Floyd Rose trem system found here is a licensed one made by Jackson (Jackson tends to make and install their own hardware and electronics on cheaper models). It has six standard string slots, standard bridge block and are paired with a regular set of fairly good string locks on the fingerboard. Jackson tuners found on the reversed headstock are also very decent, performing very close to the brand-name tuners found on the aftermarket. Passive Jackson JE10 humbuckers offer a strong and not-so-versatile tone. hard rock and classic metal are the best environment for them. lack of strength denies the players some serious venturing into thrash, or death metal. Standard one-piece maple neck with a standard bolt-on joint is paired with a rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo-sized frets and modern compound 12"-16" radius. All in all, JS22L Dinky DKA is one of the best companions for younger metalheads, who are still learning, but need something better than a beginner range guitar. It is very well made and has a decent tone. Best applications: learning and practicing. It will also do very fine for some smaller gigs, but it won`t get you through an arena concert.
