JS12 Dinky (2015) by Jackson
Metallic Red

JS series has been seriously boosted for 2015 with a bunch of Dinky, King V and Warrior models. Jackson finally takes some serious measures to spice up the competition in the lowest parts of the market - the parts which sell the most guitars. Some of these measures are the introduction of the compound fingerboard radius on all models, improved quality of the pickups (Jackson`s class high output pickups have evolved a lot since their introduction), Intermediate and top models (20 and 30 models) occasionally have a maple top, X or even Pro series inlays and fingerboard binding, etc. JS12 Dinky is, along with the JS11 Dinky, the opening model of the 2015 JS series lineup. It comes with a solid and flat-top (though back is contoured for improved playing comfort) body made of basswood. Fulcrum tremolo bridge sits on top and is quite surprisingly stable and reliable, considering the price range (well under $200) of this six-shooter. Jackson`s High Output humbuckers are the series standard pickups, and they come with ceramic magnets. One volume knob, one tone and a three-position blade switch are the members of the standard JS controls unit. One-piece maple neck is fit with the famous Speed profile in the back (one more feature taken over from the more expensive sections of the Jackson catalog), and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Dot inlays, compound 12"-16" radius and 1-11/16" wide string nut comprise the fingerboard. With the Jackson die-cast tuners we`ll wrap up the review of this utterly ambitious beginner guitar (great versatility, middle class playability and tone, and Jackson`s signature build quality as well as reliability).
