Ibanez S920 Review

S series finally gets it`s Premium sub-division. Currently, S920 is the lower of two models, with more models expected soon. S was always for the players who preferred more aesthetic approach to soloist-shaped guitars with all the heavy and loud tone of RG series. Thus, S models feature carved tops, while some prestiges and now premiums have top wood covers. S920 has a carved top on his solid, double-cut mahogany body, but it doesn`t have a top cap. Nevertheless, it looks gorgeous in glossy black, which is it`s only color option. Binding and pickguard are also omitted from the specks list. Bridge section brings an innovative and durable ZR2 bridge with double locking tremolo system. It is paired with a locking nut on the opposite side of the 25-1/2" scale. Pickups installed on this S Prestige opener are made by one and only EMG. Particular combo is 81 in the bridge with 60 in the neck. A combo from hell with 81`s formidable rhythm properties and face-melting lead tones from the 60. These two are controlled through a master volume knob and three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of five pieces of maple and walnut and is bolted to the body. Wizard Premium contour is applied on the back of the neck. Rosewood is the material of choice for the 24-fret fingerboard. there are no inlays and radius is standard 15.75 inches.
