RG421EXL is based on the Standard series` RG420 platform. Number 1 in its name suggests a fixed bridge and letter L designates it as a left-handed model. Black Flat with multi-ply binding and black hardware is the only available color option.
RG421EXL aims at players who want an affordable and reliable shred/metal-oriented hardtail guitar. The body is made of mahogany, with no top and no pickguard. Wizard-shaped maple neck is attached to the body via recessed bolt-on joint (a very popular type of bolt-on joint on recent RG models). 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with jumbo frets and dot inlays tops the neck. Ibanez Quantum pickups are featured in HH configuration and deliver a well-balanced, high output tone. Simple string-through bridge and die-cast tuners complete the specs list.
