RG421EX comes along just in time for the 2015 winter NAMM to take the post as the RG Fixed series workhorse. The entire RG Fixed sub-range has been introduced for all the players who love the RG, but are not big fans of tremolo and locking trem bridges. For them, Ibanez has employed the classic hardtail bridges with string-through-body construction. Body of RG421EX is solid, double-cut and flat on the top. It`s paired with a traditionally standard three-piece neck through a four-bolt joint. Instead of American basswood, Ibanez has decided on mahogany for the body of this model in order to beef up the tone of already hot Quantum humbuckers. Both the bridge and neck pickups are humbuckers. Ibanez crossed the RG standard single coil pickup in the middle from the specs list to keep it as simple as possible. Standard issue controls unit comes with this pickup set. Three-piece maple neck rocks the regular Wizard contour in the back, while it`s covered with a 24-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Creme binding, dot inlays and graphite nut complete the very comfortable fingerboard. Die-cast tuners wrap up the specs list for this middle class workhorse.
