Slipknot`s Mick Thompson is one of the players with the largest number of currently active signature models, as he has wide signature lines with both Fender (and Squier) and Ibanez. For the NAMM 2014, Ibanez expands the Mick Thompson series with one model, the MTM20. this mighty six-stringer is made for players who want an uncompromising metal machine for some extreme rhythm sections. Lead guitar duties are no stranger to this magnificent axe, but the rhythm is where this shark is in it`s own territory. Solid and double-cut body of this model is made of mahogany in it`s entirety. It is paired with a five-piece neck made of maple and walnut. On the top of the body, Ibanez installs a fixed variant of the Edge locking tremolo bridge. Locking nut is still there, even though the bridge is fixed. Duncan`s active HB-105MT humbuckers are installed in the front. They feature master volume knob and the three-position blade switch. Simple and straight forward approach to electronics of this model does not give many options and maneuverability, though it makes up with an unprecedented level of power and sustain. Maple and walnut neck is topped with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with jumbo-sized frets, 1.69" nut and SEVEN inlays.
