Mr Satch has been surfing with the alien for around thirty years and has been perfecting the art of fingerboard wizardry with a relentless passion. The fruits of this passion have manifested themselves in the form of the JS series guitars. The latest member of the Silver Surfer fleet is the magnificent JS2450. This six-string marvel is bound to push the engines of creation into overdrive with it`s stellar set of specs and features. It kicks off with a carved top alder body with the classic JS contour and bolt-on neck joint. Traditionally for the JS series, binding, separate top caps and pickguards are omitted from the features list. Trusty old Edge tremolo system captains the ship once again, guaranteeing the perfect tonal and tuning stability. His first officer and the on-board crew are the locking string nut on the opposite side of the 25-1/2" scale and a set of die-cast tuners on the headstock. Dimarzio (passive/alnico) Mo` Joe humbucker in the bridge is accompanied by also DiMarzio (passive/ceramic) Satch Track stack humbucker. The reasoning behind the neck pickup choice lies in Joe`s long-time faithfulness to the standard 22-fret fingerboard and the perfect harmonic response of it`s neck humbucker which is positioned in the same exact place of the 24th fret. Satch Track is an attempt to remain as close as possible to the original, without sacrificing too much of a humbucker tone and crystal clear harmonic response, while having the full 24-fret fingerboard on board. The said fingerboard is made of rosewood, has 6105 (Joe`s favorite) frets with pearl dot inlays. Beneath it, a three-piece maple/bubinga neck with JS profile is featured.
