Analogous to Gibson`s levels and tiers assigned to the Les Paul series, Gretsch names and labels their Jet models. These axes come with single and double-cut bodies, as well as solid and semi-hollow. Special Jet is a single-cut guitar with completely solid body and it ranks below the standard and custom Jet models. Body of this six-stringer is made of mahogany. There is no top wood cover, nor Gretsch installs binding around the top. Both Cherry and Black variants are finished in urethane gloss. Simple wrap around bridge on top of the body is fronted by two USA De Armond 2000 single-coil pickups. Set in neck is also made of mahogany and it features a standard contour in the back. On top, there`s a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

This is basically a bare-bones guitar so one can play a guitar with DeArmond pickups and not pay a ton of money. However the quality just isn't there. The wrap-around bridge will not last and will become unstable over time; happened to my guitar, and I've heard other owners of this guitar say the same thing.
