SG Special LTD ranks among the luxurious SGs. It comes with a classic double-cut body made entirely of mahogany. Standard body features include beveled top edges, contoured back, set in neck joint and almost symmetrical double cutaway. The cutaway runs very deep and in combination with the 19th fret heel, it gives an easy access to the 22nd fret. Back in 1961, SGs made a revolution in guitar construction, making departure from the fat '50s necks. Neck on this Special LTD is made of mahogany and equipped with the standard C contour. Fingerboard is made of ebony, one of two traditional Gibson fingerboard tonewoods. The other one is rosewood. 22 medium jumbo frets are marked with dot inlays set only at 5th and 12th fret. 490T humbucker is in the bridge and 490R in the neck position.
