Gibson SG Special '70s Tribute Review

DG Special '70s Tribute is a model from the newly established line of '70s Tribute guitars and basses. Other models from this edition include Les Paul Studio '70s Tribute, Firebird Studio '70s Tribute and Grabber III '70s Tribute. This SG is based upon the regular Special, but is equipped with age accurate appointments to pay an homage to the models from the '70s and the decade itself. This SG comes with a double cutaway body made of mahogany. Body is solid, equipped with beveled edges and flat on top. Classic black pickguard is featured on all four color options. Color palette includes Satin Cherry, Satin Ebony, Satin Silver Burst and Satin Vintage Sunburst. Bridge section is the same as on Les Paul Studio '70s Tribute, it includes chrome plated tune-o-matic with stoptail bar. Pickups department is also the same with a pair of Dual Blade Alnico minibuckers installed in bridge and neck positions. They feature split volume and tone knobs with three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of maple and it sports a unique '70s contour, same as LP. Mortise & tenon joint is used to attach the neck to the body. Baked maple fingerboard has 22 frets, block inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide corian nut. Chrome-plated Grover tuners complete the specs list.
