SG was created as a thoroughbred, no frills rocking machine, and that`s what it`s been since 1961. Every model, regardless of being a Gibson USA< Gibson Custom or Epiphone, was a superior classic rock axe. This year, Gibson USA splits catalog into T (traditional) and HP (high performance). Traditional models are, of course, dedicated to vintage Gibson fans, while the HP models aim at players who also like to keep with trends and technology. SG Special 2016 HP offers a classic SG base and classic SG tone, as well as a multitude of cool modern features.
The body of this relatively affordable SG is solid, beveled and double-cut. It is, of course, made of mahogany in its entirety (multiple pieces). Maple neck is rounded, glued to the body and topped with a rosewood fingerboard. 22 frets, block inlays, 12" radius and 1.745" wide zero-fret nut comprise the fingerboard.
Two Tribute minibuckers (one in the bridge and the other in the neck) deliver a hot and pretty dirty tone all SG fans are bound to love. They`re controlled through a standard set of knobs and switches (separate volume and tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch). Two-piece bridge with titanium saddles, titanium nut, noiseless pickup switch, fast access heel, G Force tuners and gold-plated output jack are also featured on this model. $1,089 (price of SG Special 2016 HP) will afford you a mix of the beloved SG tone and looks on one side, and modern technology on the other. Self-tuning G Force tuners, fast access heel and wider neck make this one of the easiest and most fun to play SGs ever made.
