LPJ is the new opening model in the line of Les Paul. Gibson decided to make a brand new entry model to better suit the needs and desires of today`s young players. Solution is found in stripped down looks and high quality built with strong and versatile tone. This all sounds great on paper, but how it sounds and feels in hand is the only thing that matters. And Gibson delivers an absolute stunner when it comes to in-hands performance. This one`s equipped with a classic combination of weight-relieved mahogany back with plain maple top. Generations upon generations of guitarists grew up on this type of Les Paul body. Top is carved and made of two pieces of maple. There is no pickguard and binding is omitted, as well. Bridge section is also a classic one, as it features a regular tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail bar in the back. They are plated in chrome, as opposed to the rest of the hardware, which is painted in black. Pickups on LPJ are active humbuckers, 490R in the neck and 498T in neck position, to be exact. These boys give bucket-loads of sustain and earth-shaking power. Straight forward controls section includes separate volume and tone knobs with a three-way toggle as the pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of maple and it`s glued to the body. Despite the entry model status of this model, Gibson retains the glued neck construction. Back side is equipped with '50s rounded contour, while the top is equipped with a rosewood fingerboard. 22 medium jumbo frets, figured dot acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" corian nut complete the fingerboard specs. Tuning machines are vintage-styled and come with 16:1 gear ratio. Rubbed Vintage Burst, Chocolate, Cherry and Rubbed White Trans are color options assigned to this model. All are finished in matte.
