Les Paul Traditional is a nod to the 1950s and '60s and the early Les Paul Standard models. Along with vintage styling and tone, Gibson has built in some contemporary features which blended in very well into the mix. This model is brought back as part of the catalog overhaul for 2013 Les Paul celebrations. Body of this model is made of mahogany back and carved flamed maple top. Mahogany is solid all the way and it does not feature weight relief chambers. This results in monumental tone and sustain. Top cover is carved and finished in nitrocellulose gloss. Chicago Blue, Caramel Burst, Light Burst, Heritage Cherry Sunburst and New Honey Burst are color options assigned to this model. Bridge section on this model is a traditional one, featuring tune-o-matic bridge in the front, followed by a stoptail bar in the back. Both of them are plated in chrome. In front of them, Gibson installs a pair of vintage-styled active humbuckers. Classic '57 in the neck and Classic '57 Plus in the bridge position are based upon the legendary PAFs. Bridge pickup is slightly overwound for stronger tone. Traditional setup of controls unit includes separate volume and tone controls with a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features mortise & tenon joint. Back contour is another nod to the forefathers, it is a rounded contour from the 1950s models. On top of the neck, Gibson installs a modern rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 1.695" corian nut and traditional 12" radius. Tonepros Kluson gears, 24-3/4" scale and creme binding around the fingerboard complete the specs list. Basic MSRP for Les Paul Traditional 2013 is set at $3,499 for all five color options.
