Les Paul Studio was first introduced back in the early 80s as an expansion model. The aim was to bring the Gibson USA brand closer to non-professional and young players. The mission was a complete success and the Studio became a catalog staple. In recent years, Studio Faded models started as another attempt to make the entrance into the USA catalog even easier. LP Studio Faded 2016 comes in super affordable (in Gibson USA terms, of course) Traditional variant and $1,149 High Performance variant. LP Studio Faded 2016 HP starts off with a regular LP Studio body made of mahogany back and plain maple top. Unbound top features a black pickguard (can be dismounted) and chrome-plated hardware. Mahogany base comes with modern weight relief system. Rounded mahogany neck is glued to the body and topped with a regular 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (trapezoid inlays, 1.745" string nut, 12" radius). Burstbucker Pro pickups in bridge and positions deliver all the power and smoothness of the original 1957 PAF pickups, but with modern construction and build quality. Standard controls unit is installed along with them. LP Studio Faded also features a two-piece bridge unit (tune-o-matic bridge in the front and stoptail bar in the back), new generation of Gibson`s G Force robotic tuners (automatic tuning and a wide range of predefined tuning options are available), titanium string nut and bridge saddles. All summed up, this Faded Studio is made for modern rock and metal players who appreciate the Gibson tradition, but want to be on an even keel with more modern-oriented brands out there.
