Gibson USA`s Les Paul Standard 120 Light Flame Top is one of the several models introduced into the super exclusive 120th anniversary series, issued in 2014 in order to celebrate twelve decades in business. This one features a clever mixture of the modern Les Paul Standard features with exclusive 120th Anniversary series appointments, such as a slightly thinner mahogany body with a traditional 9-hole weight relief. Also, there are Grover tuners installed on the headstock, instead of the classic TonePros machine heads. Solid and single-cut mahogany body is made of two pieces of grade A mahogany, which ensures the strong and fat tone Gibsons are renowned for. There`s only one color option available, the sweet Honeyburst. But, three different flamed maple tops are offered. The one with grade A+ costs $2,500, AA flame maple top variant is $250 more expensive, while the AAA flamed maple top on the Les paul Standard 120 Light Flame Top comes at $3,000. Burstbucker Pro pickups with chrome-plated covers are installed in both the bridge and neck positions and are controlled through a modified set of knobs and switches. Two volume knobs and one tone knob are accompanied by a two-position mini-switch for coil-splitting. The standard three-way toggle pickup switch completes the controls unit. Mahogany neck is fit with a vintage `50s rounded contour in the back and is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of grade A rosewood.
