Les Paul CM for 2016 comes in two variants, the Traditional Specs and High Performance. Traditional Specs model is oriented towards players who prefer the classic Gibson approach with only moderate amount of modern specs (modern weight relief, fast necks, modern pickups), while the High Performance side maximizes the influence of modern technology. Les Paul CM 2016 HP is the most affordable High Performance LP this year; it has one pickup, completely stripped down styling and some pretty neat 21st century features. Les Paul CM 2016 HP kicks off with a solid (no weight relief) mahogany body with a plain maple top. Pickguard and binding have been discarded. The one-piece maple neck has rounded profile in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. 22-fret medium jumbo frets with dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.745" Zero Fret Nut complete the fingerboard. Ein the electronics segment, the situation is more than clear - it rocks the dirty and mean 61 Zebra humbucker with basic volume and tone controls. Wraparound stopbar bridge and Gibson`s G Force tuners complete the hypermodern specs list. Despite the very basic looks and just one pickup, 2016 High Performance CM costs $1,049 (around $400 more than its Traditional sibling). Solid gig bag, G Force tuners, gold-plated output jack, contoured heel and titanium nut (bridge saddles are also made of titanium) justify the drastic difference in price between these two models. Sound-wise, there are no differences, though the playability is a great deal better on the HP model (carved back, slimmer neck heel, slightly wider nut).
