2014 SG Special is one of six SG models introduced into the lineup for 2014. It is a pretty affordable guitar, considering it is still under $1,000. Special SG is the border option between the youthful and affordable section of the lineup represented by the vivacious SGJ and SGM models on one side and serious and versatile SG Standard on the other. Existing on the no man`s land allows SG Special to be whatever the player desires. Simple and vintage-styled construction of this reliable six-stringer is coupled with stripped down design. Solid and double-cut mahogany body is thin, flat-topped and is paired with a set in maple neck. Beveled body of the new SG Special is offered in Butterscotch, Heritage Cherry, Desert Burst, Ebony, Fireburst and Walnut. All six are finished in vintage gloss and have chrome-plated hardware. Two-piece bridge unit is made up of two pieces (tune-o-matic bridge in the front and the stoptail bar in the back) and is fronted with a pair of Gibson 490 humbuckers. Two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls. Set in maple neck is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The MSRP for this intermediate SG is set at $979.
