Gibson Custom`s True Historic range is dedicated to the ultimate accuracy in vintage guitar recreation. More than any other series in the catalog, True Historic brings us closer to owning an original LP from the 1950s and `60s. True Historic 1968 Les Paul is an incredible recreation of one of the most underestimated 1950s guitars. With the legends like the 1952 Les Paul, 1954 Les Paul Custom, 1957 Custom and Goldtop and 1959 Standard, 1958 Les Paul Standard was always somehow the neglected one, though it was the first model to feature the sunburst, a feature without which today`s LPs can not be imagined. True Historic 1958 Les Paul comes wit a solid, single-cut mahogany body without a weight relief and a two-piece maple top (lightly flamed top is made of two pieces of high grade maple). Only the top and the neck have the traditional creme binding (one of the true historic features). Two-piece bridge unit with nickel plating, a plastic pickguard and a pair of Custom Bucker pickups (these pickups are the closest thing to the actual Seth Lover PAF pickups created in 1957) are featured on the top. One-piece mahogany neck is also there. It`s fit with the original 1958 contour in the back and a solid, one-piece rosewood fingerboard on top. 22 frets, trapezoid inlays and 1-11/16" wide nylon nut complete the 24-3/4" scale fingerboard. The MSRP for this gorgeous 1958 LP is set at $6,899.
