True Historic 1956 Les Paul Goldtop by Gibson Custom
Vintage Antique Gold

This little beauty here is the most accurate remake of the classic Goldtop LP from 1956. `56 Goldie was, and is even today, somewhat overshadowed by the cult `57 model and the variants from 1954 and 1952. 1956 was the second generation to use the famous tune-o-matic/stoptail bridge, and the last one to feature the classic P-90s (created in 1946 as Gibson`s response to the thinner and low output single-coil pickups of other brands). Today, with the beautiful True Historic 1956 Les Paul Goldtop, Gibson Custom pays a tribute to one of the most significant early models of the LP family. It kicks off with a solid, one-piece body made of mahogany. On average, the bodies weigh around seven pounds which is, despite the lack of the modern weight relief chamber system, still considered intermediately light (originals from the fifties and the sixties were notorious for the stress they were able cause to the player`s shoulders, backs and spines - this was due to the fact that the density and weight of the wood were used to counter the lower pickup outputs and weaker amplifiers). Standard two-piece maple top with the 1956 contour completes the body. It`s bound in creme, fit with a white pickguard, and painted in Vintage Antique Gold. Set of classic P-90 pickups is found in the pickups department (`56 original also had them). Neck is made of a single-piece of mahogany, and has a historically accurate profile in the back. On its top, there is a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with creme binding, 1-11/16" wide nylon nut and trapezoid inlays. The MSRP for this beautiful Goldie is set at $6,899.
