Astonishing 2014 L-5 Double Cut is Gibson`s attempt to revive the segment of exclusive hollow-bodied guitars. New L-5 is a very clever mix of traditional archtop features and modern way of build. Big and double-cut body of this fully hollow six-stringer is made of figured maple and spruce. Maple comprises the back and the sides, while the top is made of two matching pieces of spruce. Deep-contoured body is bound in white binding and is fit with a pair of vintage "f" holes. Slow Iced Tea Fade is the name of the only color option available for this model. As the tradition dictates, it is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. Gold-plated hardware, white binding and the tortoise shell pickguard with the matching binding decorate this magnificent six-stringer. Instead of the standard tune-o-matic/stoptail combo, Gibson custom installs the vintage ABR-1 bridge and the trapezoid tailpiece anchored at the bottom of the sound board. Custombuckers with the standard controls unit (2x volume, 2x tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch) comprise the electronics department. Five-piece maple-walnut neck is set in and topped with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. Schaller`s tuners replace the classic Klusons found on the majority of Gibson Custom models. The MSRP for this model is set at $10,499.
