I purchased a 2010 Howard Roberts in 2013. Simply amazing guitar for blues to rock even hard rock. While the 490 serious pickups sound fine I had a pair of throbak pickups installed. For my ear it is all the HR needed. Playability is second to none. Beautifully finished in gloss black. Not quite as big as the 50s style neck but very similar. Nice light weight and feels great. This is my first choice from my collection for smooth jazz and blues. Some nights I started with smooth jazz slid into the blues and ended up rock out and never change to other guitars I would usually switch to when venturing into rock. Very versatile guitar for most venues.
