Ever since the introduction in 1952, Les Paul Guitars have stuck to a certain recipe. This included (mostly) mahogany bodies, set in (mostly) mahogany necks with 22 fret fingerboards, active electronics, (mostly) two-piece bridge units, 12" fingerboard radius, 3+3 tuners on the headstock and all of them had 24-3/4" scale (baritone models excluded). The iconic contour and overall styling haven`t changed that much since 1950s. Nor has the position of an exclusive single-cut electric guitar ever changed for Les Paul. For 2014, Gibson Custom takes a twist on the classic Les Paul dimensions and measurements and adds three quarters of an inch to the traditional 24-3/4" long scale, thus creating the CS Les Paul Long Scale. Other then the scale length, neck length and fret spacing, everything else is pure Les Paul legacy. Solid and single-cut body is made of mahogany base and a two-piece figured maple top. Both the top and back are bound in a very elegant single-line binding. Players are given the choice between the Iced Tea, Washed Cherry and Antique Gold color schemes. All of them come with the traditional nitrocellulose lacquer sealer, nickel hardware and a white plastic pickguard. Two-piece bridge unit is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar in it`s back. Splendid Custombucker pickups are featured in both the bridge and neck positions and feature a standard set of controls (unlike the upscale Gibson USA models, Gibson Custom LPs don`t have push/pull switches with coil splitting). Mahogany neck with maple spline is set in and is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of Indian rosewood. Six Reissue Green Key Machine Head tuners grace the headstock. The MSRP is set at $4,832.
