The guy who sold me this guitar also has a 54 Les Paul Junior so, I had something worthwhile to compare it to in terms of p-90 equipped rock warrior gear... It compares really well really. No it doesn,t have that old guitar mojo and openness of sound only an aged and cracked thin lacquer on an at least 63 years old mahogany blank can manage but still, I would put the Fret King nose to nose with any regular production Gibson of the same attire any day of the week. What hit me first about this guitar is the 59 neck profile - a kind of transitional neck shape between my LP R8 (58 reissue) and a 60's slim taper - which is perfect for my tastes. Action is low and buzz free and the fretwork and fretboard exude quality like the best from anything in the US. Headstock angle set at 14degrees instead of Gibson's 17degrees help tuning stability A LOT. I mean this thing stays tuned like none of my other guitars do. My respect towards Asian built guitars has raised a few notches thanks to this guitar... It's a keeper for sure.
