Black Label is the latest of four series in Fret King catalog, and it`s duty is to blend high end features into affordable guitars. Unveiled at NAMM 2012, this series already has great prospects for the future with it`s unique array of models. Among the models introduced, there also was Black Label JD, Jerry Donahue`s signature model. It starts off as a Tele shaped single cutaway model with a body made of alder. Flat top features no binding, carvings or top caps. There is only a black plastic pickguard. Natural colored JD comes with satin finish, and sunburst models has gloss finish. The bridge on this one is a Wilkinson vintage-styled Tele "tray" bridge with three saddles and chrome plating. Pickup combo is also taken from the Telecaster and it consists of a slanted single coil in the bridge and a regular single coil in the neck. Controls are simple and include master volume, master tone and a five position blade switch. The neck is made of hard rock maple and features a maple fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo sized frets. Black dot inlays, 10" fingerboard radius and 25-1/2" scale wrap the specs list. The MSRP is set at around $950.
