At the very beginning of the American line in Fender`s catalog, sits the proud American Special series. Its models are more affordable than their Standard, Deluxe and Elite siblings, but still offer the genuine Fender American quality. Price tags of around $1,000 guarantee great quality of both the tone and build, while also being popular and available to a vast majority of players. American Special Stratocaster HSS is one of two new models for 2016. It comes with a wide palette of color options, a choice between rosewood and maple fingerboard, passive Fender electronics, Fender hardware, 25-1/2" scale and classic Stratocaster design features. The body of this powered-up Strat is solid, flat and made of alder. It is paired with a maple neck through a standard four-bolt neck joint. The neck is equipped with a modern C profile in the back and a 22-fret fingerboard on top (jumbo frets, 9.5" radius, dot inlays and 1.685" synthetic bone nut). Pickups section comes in with a set of two single coils and one humbucker. Atomic humbucker in the bridge and Texas Special single-coils in the middle and neck are accompanied by a standard controls unit with Greasebucket circuits built onto both tone pots. Modern synchronized tremolo bridge and Fender tuners complete the specs list. Just like its S/S/S brother, this Strat is made for general use and covers everything from slow blues to full-on hard rock.
