Fender`s Custom Shop is a very special place, a place where time doesn`t exactly flow the way ordinary people might imagine. In one corner of the shop it might be 1959, while in the other, at the same exact instant it can be 1964. That is only possible due to the fact that Fender Custom Shop guitars can turn the clocks and calenders back and revive the tone and vibe of the past models with stunning accuracy. 2013 Custom Collection brings ten new models and 1959 Relic Esquire is one of them. It comes with a solid, single-cut body made of alder wood. It is flat on the top and features no binding. Also, there is no top wood cover. Bridge section is equipped with a Tele bridge with three saddles and string-through construction. Bridge is plated in nickel, as is the rest of the hardware. There`s only one pickup, it comes from the highly acclaimed Twisted Tele series. Master volume, greasebucket tone knob and a three-position blade switch comprise controls. Neck on this model is made of maple, it`s equipped with a regular C contour and it`s topped with a 21-fret fingerboard. Fingerboard on this model is made of rosewood.
